Serco wins London & SE Commuter Operator of the Year
At last night's National Rail Awards 2007, Serco Docklands won the award for London & SE Commuter Operator of the Year, for its operation of the Docklands Light Railway.
The award was presented by Jeremy Vine from the BBC at a gala dinner held at the Grosvenor House Hotel in Park Lane, London. Serco beat strong competition from a number of shortlisted national rail operators including C2C, Chiltern Railway, Jubilee line and Southern.
The award was won based on the company's exceptional staff performance and schemes. The judges commented, "The multi-lingual community ambassador programme, new team of 16 travel safe officers, an enlarged customer service department employing 55 staff, 24-hour working for rolling stock engineers and fresh uniforms. Train reliability hit a new record of 98.72% in June 2006, which is not lost on passengers whose satisfaction rating also reached a highest-ever score of 97.2% for the third quarter of last year."
The judges commented, "The DLR is still as bright as a new pin, due in no small part to the efforts of Serco."
