Normal Services Resume on DLR
Normal services have now resumed on Docklands Light Railway between Crossharbour and Lewisham. Trains will have an average three-minute frequency in the morning peak with passengers no longer needing to change at Island Gardens. A major eight-week construction programme has successfully taken place that will enable longer three-carriage trains to operate from 2010.
Jonathan Fox, Director DLR, said: 'I would like to thank all of our passengers for bearing with us during this period of significant disruption. These works are one of the most challenging and critical of the overall £300m three-carriage upgrade programme, so I am pleased to say this project has been successfully completed as planned. Although closures of DLR lines will still be necessary on particular weekends, weekday services will now stay largely unchanged.'
Tower Gateway station remains closed until Spring 2009.
