DLR 20th anniversary competition winners to get inside track
Docklands Light Railway (DLR), part of Transport for London (TfL), celebrates its 20th anniversary on 31 August 2007. As part of the celebrations to mark the occasion it is offering up to 20 DLR buffs the opportunity to spend an afternoon at the railway where they will be given a guided tour of the network and the opportunity to visit DLR's control centre in Poplar, East London.
In order to be in with a chance of joining the visit on Thursday 20 September the following five questions, all set by DLR staff, must be answered. All correct entries will be entered into a prize draw where the winners will be selected.
The questions are:
1. When DLR opened in 1987 what was the total route length in kms?
2. When Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh rode the first ever DLR train what was its number?
3. The original DLR rolling stock no longer operates in this country. Where has it moved to and what major modifications were made to it in its new home?
4. Which company was appointed as the first DLR franchisee operator before Serco Docklands and in what year were they appointed?
5. What length in kms are the future DLR extensions to Woolwich Arsenal and Stratford International?

• Only one entry is allowed per person. DLR decision on competition winners is final;
• The competition is not open to TfL staff, employees of the franchise operator or their families;
• The tour will comprise a visit to the main DLR depot in Beckton and London City Airport extension;
