DLR launches local history guide
Docklands Light Railway (DLR) has launched a local history guide aimed at schools, libraries and visitor attractions.
The guide, produced to mark the opening of the DLR Woolwich Arsenal extension, provides a snapshot of the changes and events that have shaped the areas in and around DLR stations.
From the thriving shipping industry of the 1800s, to the economic decline of the 1970s, to the financial boom at Canary Wharf in the late 20th and early 21st centuries, the guide records historic highlights, extraordinary events and fascinating facts.
